HELLO, I'M
Benard Matega.
I build mobile and web applications, from early product ideas to production releases. I also have a background in AI data work: RLHF, SxS evaluation of LLM agents, and 3D LiDAR annotation.
What I do
My work spans cross-platform mobile apps, web applications, payment and connectivity tools, and the systems around them. I work mainly with Flutter and modern JavaScript/TypeScript stacks, and have also led annotation teams and trained technical contributors.
Toolkit
On mobile, I build with Flutter and dip into Kotlin whenever an app needs a native plugin. On the web, I reach for modern JavaScript frameworks like Next.js, Astro and SvelteKit, written in TypeScript, and happily pick up others when a project calls for them. Now and then I reach for Go when a small, fast service is the better fit. For data, I rely on PostgreSQL, with hosted backends like Supabase or Firebase when a project needs to move fast.

An exploration into billing for Kenya’s fast-growing ISP scene, connecting RADIUS authentication with MikroTik routers to manage customer access.

A Rofi-inspired browser extension for jumping between tabs and search engines from one quick prompt, with AI to get you to results faster.

Evaluated and aligned frontier LLMs and browser/computer-use agents through side-by-side testing, RLHF, and SFT. Audited agent trajectories for failures like UI hallucinations, logic loops, and tool misuse, assessed generated code and apps for correctness and intent alignment, and curated Golden Datasets of high-complexity prompt-response pairs that sharpened model reasoning. Held a 95%+ quality score while consistently exceeding daily targets.
